Located just outside of Chiang Rai in Northern Thailand, Wat Rong Khun is certainly one of the most beautiful and unusual Buddhist temples in the world. The White Temple, as it is also commonly known as, is the creation of acclaimed artist Chalermchai Khositpipat. With the aim to create one of the world's greatest works of art, Chalermchai began the project in 1997, investing large amounts of his own money and procuring the help of many other artist. Still considered a work in progress, Chalermchai has made plans to continue with the project even after his death.

Inside of Wat Rong Khun is where you will find some of the more unusual aspects of the temple. Mixed in with the more traditional Buddhist works of art one can find various pop culture icons such as Neo from the Matrix, Superman, Spiderman and so on.
I try to only use Creative Commons (public permission) pictures but there aren't many good royalty free pics of the white temple out there. As a work around,
